To commemorate Black History Month, Dr. Maya Hislop will talk about how she first came into contact with the landmark book, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, and the impact that it has had on her as a person, a teacher, and as an activist. Dr. Hislop is an Assistant Professor of English at Cal Poly. This free event is presented by the SLO Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and co-sponsored by the County of SLO Public Libraries.
